Dermatologist suggested retinol to smooth skin what do you guys use?

The ladies put me on the Tret train too! Over the years I have developed a skincare habit that I add to occasionally to make it easier for me to be consistent with lol. I can’t do too many changes all at once 🤣. Sunscreen is so important! I use K Beauty-Beauty of Joseon….technically made in the USA (for some fuk all reason) before that, I used the Neutrogena Face Shield

I do have a retinol I use, which is by The Ordinary brand, and before I knew about K Beauty, you could NOT pry Cerave from my cold dead hands! I love Cerave products! I use the moisturizer on my body still! ***my BF always compliments how soft my skin is.

Not to long ago women couldn't have HRT either. So rush tolerance may vary.

The sunscreen made here in the US has to conform to FDA guidelines per FDA OTC drug classification. Overseas, sunscreen is a cosmetic. You don't say where you purchased it. If you want Korean product, buy direct from Korea.

I got it off of the Beauty of Joseon website….I didn’t even consider that it was cosmetic.
 
I use Altreno currently, its not as harsh as straight tretinoin for me. I did the health AI thing on Amazon and had a 3 month supply in hand the next day. Once I knew I liked it I ordered from some other places to get a better price/oz.
 
I'm 56, I've been using tretinoin for seven years and I have less fine lines than when I started. My eyelids were starting to sag a little bit and the tret lifted them some over time. It takes a few months to see results but I would NOT start with daily use, your skin has to get used to it! It can be very irritating and cause a red and peeling face. In my experience, derms tend to leave out these details about starting slow. I used the guidelines from the hotandflashy website, except I started with 2X/week instead of 1X/week. Going slow, I almost never had any irritation and I've been using it daily now for years. I get it from alldaychemist, my last order was six tubes plus 20 dollars shipping.

A lot of people prefer tazarotene, I tried it for a few months but it wasn't as good for my wrinkles so I went back to tret.

I have oily skin and use a very gentle Korean oil cleanser that helps a lot with my skin texture.

I would just go straight to tret .025 instead of an over the counter retinol. You should know that it changes our skin texture and makes us shiny. People who use it love the "glowy" look though!

Ok I have read that. It really didn't have any info other than what google would say. I can tell you Google will also tell you not to buy grey peptides.

I dont have sun damaged skin and I am not worried about melasma.

It's probably not officially sanctioned and Google/Gemini will definitely forbid it, but when I have a blemish like that, I roast it off with the electrocautery pen or "plasma pen" I bought. They're available on Amazon. I had a raised brown patch on the side of my nose and it's completely gone now.

You'll find brave YouTubers who show themselves removing blemishes and wrinkle lines this way.

You want to first buy some OTC 4% lidocaine ointment, spread it over the area, and cover it with a tiny piece of plastic wrap. After about 15 minutes, remove your anesthetic patch, fire up the pen, and start working on the outer edges. Stop when it becomes to painful or when you can no longer stand the smell of burning flesh.

Let it heal for a week (copper peptide ointment might speed up the healing), reassess, and see what additional work needs to be done for round 2. It may take a month or two of repeating this fry 'n' heal cycle.

Note: I am not a dermatologist, but I don't like paying dermatologist bills. Do this at your own risk and be prepared to see a doctor if things go south.
