Usually I hear side effects of reta consisting of sensitive skin. But I've never heard of anyone getting dry skin. My face is typically combo with an oily T-zone and the rest being dry. But ever since pinning for the first time (5 days ago), I've had crazy dry skin to the point of flaking. I've alleviated a lot with consistent mositurisation more often and drinking decent amounts a day with electrolytes. I havent had any major weight losses yet so its not a result of fat loss. im not sure. Has anyone had this experience too?

I had this initially both on Reta and Tirz. It happened in the first couple of weeks after pinning. I think it may have to do with excessive water weight loss in the first few weeks, that leads to dehydration of the skin organs. My skin was ashy dry for days, and I had to moisturize two/three times per day. Eventually, my water intake levels must have worked, and it stopped.

Back to hydrated smooth skin again in my 4th week. So it went away for me.

Thank You!

My eczema has flared up like crazy- really struggling to get it under control. Just been prescribed antibiotics for it so hopefully it finally clears it up. Aveeno is pretty good for moisturising. I slap loads on several times a day.

My skin sensitivity is closely related to skin dryness. Also very dry mouth. It’s been a year and symptoms haven’t subsided at all. I moisturize my skin daily and use biotene for dry mouth but nothing seems to work…

Hoping it will stop when I stop Reta…

One thing to check is thyroid. It could be connected to it, too. My results are off but not off enough to medicate…

I suspect the culprit might be that your vitamins are off with the change in what and how you are eating and the delayed gastric emptying. A good multi vitamin in the am will help see you through the dry skin spells. Also the weather is unseasonably cold at the moment so that might not be helping much either. Also I second the user who recommended aveeno moisturiser, there are several formulations of jt it does help with dry skin. Don’t recommend slapping it on as a little goes a long way.

I’m really interested in the change in your oily t zone though OP, perhaps Reta working some magic to slow that production pathway down ( relating to balancing out some of your hormones)?

Woah, my eczema also flared up when I used reta! I didn't put two and two together at the time but my eczema hasn't flared up again since I stopped.
