Insulin Syringe wont draw from vial properly

31g 5/16 inch 8 mm syringe, and whenever I try drawing fluid it only draws out drops at a time instead of a consistent flow, which makes it really hard to measure out the dose because it leaves air bubbles and i have to constantly push the air out and pull back to get my desired dose.

I’ve used both 30g and 31g syringes before on amazon that were from a generic brand and had no issues with them, always had smooth drawing of the liquid, but since I got these its been extremely annoying and difficult. Any thoughts would be helpful on the situation. After this box I will be switching to the more reputable brands like easy touch but still wondering if it is just a brand issue.

Draw with a 21 or perhaps 22G needle, inject with 31G insulin.

Given that you've had good luck with another brand, but these particular needles are giving you trouble, seems pretty obvious to try a different needle.

A couple of other possibilities: I've managed to bend a needle a few times, both while drawing from the vial, and stabbing into my skin. A good crease in a needle will of course drastically restrict flow. (probably not this if you're consistently having trouble with needle after needle).

Take a good look at the rubber stopper in the vial you're trying to draw from. Some are concentric rings, some are V shaped, but in some way they've all got a small area where the needle will have an easy time getting in, and areas where it won't. Be sure you're hitting the correct spot on the rubber stopper, or you can have trouble.
 
The 31g needles definitely draw slower as it is thinner and a narrower needle. Pull the plunger back slowly and you won’t create that negative pull that makes it drip in. I’ve also noticed that when I turn a vial upside down to draw, there can be an air bubble in the neck of the vial. So when you insert the needle pull the plunger back, all you’re getting is that air from the neck. I’ve either turned the vial over really slowly or given it a little shake and the bubble releases and then the needle is in the solution.

I push the air in with the vial right side up, flip it and draw slow. I use 31g as well. If you push the air in liquid side down, you're going to get a crap load of bubbles.

You're now buying luer lock syringes, and two different luer lock needles. Not needed in my opinion. Your call though.

Yep, that's what I've been doing for 10+ years. Started with TRT since that oil is impossible (well, very difficult..) to draw with a fine gauge needle. Luer lock syringes are the only way to go IMO and are essentially the same price as the non luer, not sure why anyone would not use them.
