Hi All ! A 44years old mom of 3.. I just started Reta on 5unit on Wednesday. Feeling down as i started perimenopause and gain like 25kg although i think im eating normally. Today i saw a thread saying Reta wont work if you have a high cortisol. Makes me feel like a loser. I dont know if Reta can help me but im really hoping to feel confident again. I have dedicated myself as a mom n wife for 18years and didnt notice this weight gains. Ironically i was a beauty therapist before in a world class spa and here i am now feeling like a loser.😢

Hi Naini, welcome!

You have no reason to feel like a loser. Weight gain in perimenopause is common and usually not to do with how much you’re eating but with how your body is processing sugars less efficiently. I’ve seen so much anecdotal evidence to say that Reta has been really beneficial for women in perimenopause so I really hope you see those benefits after some time.

I have been using Reta for over a year and I definitely have suffered with high cortisol but it has not stopped me from losing 10kg in total so please don’t worry too much about that. Focus on keeping your protein intake sufficient, eating lots of fibre and try and do some weight-bearing exercise (not easy with 3 kids I’m sure but even some light weights or wearing some ankle/wrist weights whilst doing the house work is great!) and you will see the rewards of your hard work!
