Hi everyone,

I’ve recently joined after spending a good while reading and learning more about GLP-1s and related weight loss treatments.

I’ve been on this journey for around 8 months now and I’ve lost just under 100 lb so far. I had quite a bit to lose at the start, so it’s been a big change for me and I’m still learning as I go.

I’m hoping to keep improving my health, get a better understanding of other people’s experiences, and pick up sensible advice around weight loss, training, diet, and maintaining progress long term.

Planning to join a gym soon too, so I’m also interested in hearing how others have approached exercise while losing weight and rebuilding fitness.

Happy to be here and looking forward to chatting with people while I browse and learn.

What kind of advice are you seeking? Upping protein and resistance training are probably the main way to minimize muscle loss while losing weight, no matter on GLP or keto or whatever.

Honestly ive never stepped foot in a gym in my life!! i feel incredibly weak after losing the weight, need to get some strength back but no idea where to start!

There are tons of resources out there. I use an app called Caliber and it lets me generate workouts based off of what equipment and weights you have access to. If i want to use free weights it will generate a workout for that or machine workouts. They will try to get you go with their paid membership but you don't need to. Just take it slow and make sure you are getting enough rest and protein. This is what has helped me out.

welcome. Exercise is more about discipline and habit than anything else in my experience. Ritualizing it helps a lot

What do you mean by ritualizing? I very much struggle with consistency (with a lot of things) especially with the gym.

Sorry for the late reply. I mean create a daily ritual around the workout. Mine:

-get home from work

-put on my workout cloths

-lay on the floor and stretch (and half nap) for like 15 minutes

-tell myself I'd better get going so I can eat dinner after the workout.

It sounds weird, but the pre-workout ritual keeps me consistent with the workout

I have just started gymming in the morning prior to work at about 6am, however im finding that im way weaker than i thought it was, probs a mix of the weight loss and low cal intake!

I find the gym pretty intimidating as you always will with a new thing, but just put it in my head that noone gives a shit. just need to figure out how most of the machines work!

Currently looking into mots-c and possibly ghkcu. Any other feedback suggestions more than welcome, main goal to build strength and a decent physique - 6'3 and 107kg as it stands.
