Knee pain (osteoarthritis)

I've been trying to calculate the load relief on my joints since weight loss. I don't actually have arthritis, but this article that predates GLP1s concludes that "each unit of weight loss was related to a reduction in knee joint loads by a factor of 2.2." They also quantify joint alignment differences in ways I don't fully follow. I am not sciency enough to critique the study's math or methods, but this feels true in my body. A 25lb loss provides 55lb of load relief and a 50lb loss provides 110lb of load relief, for example. I think this comes closest to quantifying how much better I feel now. I've tried talking to people about it, and the relief (not just knees) of joint pain, strain, and stress is somehow higher than the number of total weight lost. I know part of it is the anti-inflammatory benefits of GLP1s but I think load and alignment changes also feel incredibly good.

Does anyone with the ability to interpret this article have any insights or other (better) articles to read?

Not at all. I'm looking for better sources on measured changes to joint load and alignment after weight loss.

The flip side of that is we are all here because of failed medical systems. We are all here looking to get our hands on shit not provided or even approved by medical systems.
 
I'm just waiting on a follow-up from the GP due to a knee issue, which is obviously related to the weight I've been carrying. I've also just started Reta, so I'm hoping I lose enough to take some load off my knees. Depending on what the issue turns out to be, I may look at what peptides may or may not help.
 
I can't tell you load relief math formulas. What I can tell you is being 178lbs versus 240lbs made a difference on my joints. Had meniscus repair , now hyaluronic acid shots In that knee. It's the weight that helped destroy the knee. It's manageable now that the load has lessened. Stay fit stay vigilant ! !
 
Something that greatly helps with the pain in the knee, back and shoulders is DMSO. Used it before the Reta. It was a Miricle but just masks the problem. Reta looks like it will help cure or improve my issues. But for pain in joints except the hip (too deep to be effective) DMSO 70% in distilled water rubbed on the area reduces or eliminates the pain in 20 minutes or less for me. And it is available on Amazon😂.
 
There's another study that showed an increase in cartilage in a small group that had arthritis taking semaglutide. This showed a benefit independent of just the weight loss for GLP1 drugs. From just my experience, weight loss seems to make a bigger difference, and a good bit of the pain reduction is offset by increased activity (ie I'm losing weight by being more active, but being more active makes my knees hurt worse). Quite a few videos on this study as well if that's more your speed.

Just my anecdotal experience, but I have bilateral knee OA and I was doing PT and cortisone injections when I began reta. This was 4 weeks ago, so I haven't seen much weight loss yet. However, the knee pain is virtually gone now. I'm convinced its the anti-inflammatory effect of reta.

I have been diagnosed with bone on bone arthritis. Within 2-4 days of taking reta, my knee and leg pain went down probably 90%. This was before any weight loss. So just the GLP-1 itself does something to the inflammation or whatever is the root of the pain. That combined with significant weight loss should really do the trick on the knee pain.
