Does anyone else have this weird experience?

Sometimes I have absolutely no appetite at all. I don’t feel hungry, and food doesn’t even sound appealing. But once I start eating, it suddenly feels really hard to stop.

This happened to me yesterday. I had no appetite, but I started with a piece of corn… and somehow ended up eating a slice of bread, a peach, an egg, and a cup of yogurt.

It wasn’t even because I was starving — it just felt like once I started, I wanted to keep eating.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have had a few days where I just wanted a little but if everything, like nothing was satisfying whatever it was my body was craving. Literally took lil bites of everything trying to find it.

It’s called the gummy for me.

I had a similar thing happen to me yesterday at dinner. I was really hungry like physically as I hadn't eaten for 7 hours but wasn't hungry mentally but once I started eating I did feel an urge to just devour my dinner in one bite. My girlfriend was the saviour this time when she asked me if I even chewed my food? Made me realize and stop eating like a pig. 🐷

I would posit that those carb-rich foods activated your brain’s reward circuitry, including dopamine pathways. Those can make it hard to stop once you start.

I eat one meal per day, mostly meat and fat. if I so much as have a bite of carbs, I’m immediately ravenous and that craving lasts until I stop carbs for about three days.

Yes, I’ve done that before. I would take just one bite of a dessert to satisfy the craving, then throw the rest away.

Yes, I do that too. I tend to eat really fast, so I always have to force myself to slow down and chew my food more.

That sounds a lot more like how I was without the GLP drugs, where eating small amounts of rich/highly rewarding /high glycemic index foods would make me ravenously hungry not long after and stopping eating was almost impossible, thankfully GLP drugs plus mostly avoiding those types of foods has almost totally solved that binge eating issue.

It does sound suspiciously like a carb reaction of some sort. Plus a bit of GLP food aversion, making you not really feel like eating a lot of foods. Did you have this before you started GLP drugs? Have you lost a lot of weight? Losing a lot of weight can trigger pretty extreme hunger if your body thinks there might be food around, by eating a bit of something it wants. If you have not been on the GLPs for long but are trying to stick to a low calorie diet anyway before the drugs have really kicked in or you have gotten to a decent dose, you most likely will find it gets better with higher doses. One of the most noticeable effects when I started GLPs was getting full after eating much smaller amounts of food. This effect is something I think everyone gets and is one of the reasons they work so well for weight loss.

One of the ways I mostly solved hunger was to include a decent amount of protein in most things I ate, it is more filling than just about anything else calorie for calorie, and it is much harder to just keep eating more and more protein, you body just tells you to stop after a while. And maybe avoid carb only / high glycemic index foods or mix with protein containing ones?

No problem with regular food and eating healthy but I still have to keep fine pastries, chocolate, my favorite candy, and popcorn out of sight. These bring out the golem in me.

I got something similar. Let's say I'm not hungry, but there's a moment of the day, I have to push meself to eat, due to the workout day and need supplement protein. So at first push meself to eat, but while eating, getting a bit hungry. Nothing severe, but when finish my planned meal, got a munchies for something else. But if I survive 15-20 minutes and eat nothing more, the feeling of complete fullness comes over and cravings gone...

I've been doing so damn good on not munching over the past 2-3 weeks but yesterday I had a dreaming of devouring some of my favorite snacks 😭.

Wow, I just realized this is what it's like to not have food noise 🙂.

Ahhh you have one of those... How does driving go? No need for Google? Lol... just kidding. I got one too...

It does happen to me sometimes but I think that it is manageable. The things that you mentioned eating are all perfectly good choices depending on what your needs are. When it happens to me it does follow the same pattern as you where I will have a little of this and a little of that rather than an embarrassing amount of one thing like 7 cookies or half of a cake.

I have found that higher doses and more GLP's help with hunger and cravings and seem to suppress the need to keep on eating unhealthy food if I eat a little bit.. ( which is kind of obvious ) I only started any of them after losing most of the weight so for me it was all about how hungry I was and how often I was craving unhealthy food., and if the scales showed weight going up or down. Trying to maintain a loss of 55% body weight adding 5mg of reta to 15mg of tirz helped and adding a bit of cagri helped as well. The ideal aim is to find a dose or doses that make my appetite equal my weight neutral calorie requirements. Only really a useful approach if trying to achieve or maintain very large weight losses.
