Eli Lilly sues 6 companies over illegal retatrutide sales



The drug remains in Phase 3 clinical trials and has not been approved by any regulator for human use

Anyone know any of those sites and how they marketed the product? There are much more well known sites I would think they would target. If it's apparently a "gray" area of legality, I wonder what they decided was enough to sue them over. I mean the peptide vendors specifically rather than the med spa or compounders.

Compounders and medi-spas are the low hanging fruit...US single vial resellers are probably vulnerable as well....

It'll depend how much money EL wants to throw at it...

and where did the name 'retatrutide' originate?... did EL come up with it cause that sure isn't what they will brand their product as....

Have seen eli lilly list retatritude as the name for the trials so I think that would confirm EL came up with it. I think retaritude may be the generic name so far and the amino sequence is called that. Would it depend on if they patented that generic name or is that not possible ? But novo did originally do trials with ozempic as the medication name. Semaglutide is the generic so I am a bit confused.
 
I'm not surprised. People are pretty open about selling reta. The way people talk about it online is like it is some officially released drug not a drug still subject to fda approval.
 
EL is probably just pissed because they named it Retatrutide, which the company who created the name pronounces as RUH-TA-TRUE-TYDE. However, every YouTuber/Influencer (even the so called medical professionals and doctors, who should know better) pronounces it as REHTA-TRUE-TYDE. That's gotta burn 😛 😛 😛

They could have 'copywrite' the name and that would be a separate issue to pursue, although a less effect deterrence than a patent infringement suit....but I was just curious about that because reta and tirz are used generically by other companies and everyone else to describe other people's products...

It is interesting and i have had a look and EL has the patent to the actual drug itself but not to the name. The name retaritude is a generic drug name so anyone can call a drug retaritude but not use the same compound that EL has created. But patents expire eventually and people compound and probably comes down to a specific countries law. This information is available from EL directly. It is not quoted but paraphrased.

Yeah they have assets and present themselves as medical professionals and are so far out of bounds it is not even funny. I know of a few in my town selling reta. (One of them I know personally and I am not sure she understands the risk she is taking with her nursing license.) EL can win those cases without even trying.

Your average individual vial reseller is just some dude across town working out of his garage from what I can tell. Alot of those dudes taking payments by zelle but selling hundreds or thousands of vials are going to have major IRS problems at some point.

The sellers with any kind of ‘presence’ like even small single vial companies can be shut down by EL targeting financial and social media sources to eliminate the pep trade businesses from access to their services or face the big pharma wrath…

Yeah they could easily notify Zelle with the accounts they have found and demand they shut them down. Hell their attorneys could just have an intern using google find a bunch of them and send them a list of the accounts.
 
Checked some of the court docs for the actual lawsuit and the one "RUO" brand had a "Retatrutide Dosage Calculator"

So much for being Research Use Only... They have no one to blame but themselves in this case.
