Dr. Kevin Joseph just published a prescient and wide ranging YouTube analysis of the PROVEN beneficial 'side effects' of GLP1s - specifically Tirzepatide.

Tirz benefits.

I was astounded by the many seriously beneficial effects he brings up - maybe y'all who have been longer and deeper in this field are aware, but my flabber has never been so gasted!

I know what you mean. Early on in my education (not very long ago) I watched that same guys reta video. Very similar, "it's way better than just wight loss" it was eye opening to me. I started research it, people all over say the same thing, "helps with all kinds of great things"

That's probably why there's not a lot of responses to this thread, this information is already here. Just search for it.

However, I question, is the tirz doing all these great things? Or is the wieght loss doing all these great things? And the tirz being the tool that allows the wieght loss?

I don't think there would be a realistic way to prove it. Theres two options that i see:

1. You would need a group of people to eat like there were on tirz, without tirz. They couldn't cheat, the only way to do it, would be in a inpatient study. Then campair to the tirz group.

2. Get a group of people on tirz, to eat like they weren't on tirz. Then compair to non tirz people, eating the same. Why would anyone want to do that, sounds nearly impossible.

And what about all the non- responders? If they take tirz, I doesn't curb there appetite, do they still get all the other benifits?

There's some tirz non responders here. Maybe they can chime in? I think I know the answer, but I hope I'm wrong...

The answer is basically both. Newer research is showing inflammation decreases, organ fat loss, and other improvements that are better than just comparable weight loss alone.

That's truly incredible. I'm going to seek out this research, and see how this was determined and by how? Was it from the people who are profiting off of it? Probably, but that alone doesn't make the info invalid. However it does make me question it. I'm overly untrusting of a very untrustworthy system

Ok. I spent the last few hours try to read things that are way past my understanding. And a lot of things that are basically summarized versions. There's a lot of great stuff there. I'm becoming much more of a believer. My wife's doesn't have much of an appetite, never has. I hope someday they make a peptide that does all of these things without appetite suppresiosuppression, for thr 1% of the population who would want it.

This is not intended to be inclusive of all evidence, it would be much longer if I even tried to do that.

In terms of proven benefits, there are some caveats to that. Sema and Tirz are both proven in prospective clinical trials to have benefits in humans for things other than weight or diabetes, but only in some groups of patients at this point. In those with diabetes or pre existing cardiovascular disease, they reduce risks of heart attack, stroke , diabetes development, improve lipids and blood pressure and certain types of heart failure. In arthritis they improve outcomes both via loss of weight and via weight independent mechanisms.

What is not yet proven, though fairly likely is that these benefits exist in lower risk general populations with just obesity, just because they do not get sick often enough to get reliable data unless the study is enormous or goes for decades, this is not going to change any time soon as prospective trials to do this are just going to cost too much.

There are 2 other types of evidence, population based studies which show a huge array of benefits for GLP drugs and animal studies showing even more, suggestive and preliminary evidence but not to the standard of proven.
