I’d love to see pictures of your home gym if you have one. Would love to know if you figured out a way to insulate your garage door well enough to allow you to keep it cool in the summer. Also what made you start building your home gym? For me I started mine because I worked 14 hours a day six days a week, the closest gym was 30 minutes from me, and I have two children who were in their early teens at the time. I didn’t want to waste even more of my time away from them to exercise. My son and his friends spend a lot of time in there especially during summer break, but the daytime heat is rough and they typically wait till late at night when my wife and I are trying to sleep. lol.

I have a lot crammed into a small space. 2 3x3 racks, one for lifting, 1 as a functional trainer. Dumbells to 50 and Eisenlinks for heavier. Also have a Rogue Westside Reverse Hyper, Eliptical, and Treadmill not pictured. I really want a leg developer but I'm waiting for for the Dialed Motion/Rep collaboration to release in the fall. (Also pictured, wife's striper pole 😛).

I installed a minisplit, they are amazing and cost effective.

Easy to install and cheap- very high seer rating and can use "as needed".

Does it take long to cool down when you turn it on or do you have it set to a certain temp constantly?

I have it in my upstairs office between 2 attics..

It can get to 65 degrees in 20-30 minutes if I want.. also has a "dry" setting that takes all the humidity out of room while also cooling.. crazy effective in Texas heat..

It is also pretty cheap to leave on..

My home gym is pretty simple, I use a multi weight set and an elliptical machine. It's just in my garage. I don't have any climate control in there so when it's hot like it has been lately (100+ Degrees) I workout early in the morning with a fan it front of me and one behind. In the cold time of year I keep the garage door closed, wear my sweats and a beanie cap. Plus I usually walk a couple of miles everyday with the dog.

Looking at your pictures it looks like your garage door is better insulated than mine. I bought the tinfoil looking bubble wrap that’s supposed to be a heat barrier and tried that. It helped a lot, but still gets way too hot in there. I’m tempted to rip the garage door down and build an insulated wall. Lol I need to get an elliptical or bike I just can’t decide on what one I want and then I try to find it on marketplace before buying new

I wish a had a split unit in my garage but I'm too cheap to do that. I got my elliptical machine on FB Marketplace for $20 and my weight set from Walmart for $299 on a Black Friday deal that was regularly $499

Just my little basement gym, got everything I need, squat rack, bench, cable machines, freeweights, bumbells, and my 2 workout partners duke&ellie!

If that soda machine is plugged in its basically a 300w heater. Those things use an absurd amount of energy and the condenser coils put out all of that heat into your space.

Same thing goes for mini fridges. Anything thats refrigerated and doesnt have a lot of insulation will run constantly trying to reach temp.
