I learned Crypto with ChatGPT help

I just did my first Crypto purchase. I know its a little scary at first. I opened a Coinbase account. One thing I learned is that its better to fund it with a debit card. I funded with ACH and I had to wait 7 days for it to clear. From what I have read its much faster with debit. When I did a transaction in Coinbase I used ChatGPT and it walked me through the whole process. Every step I uploaded a screenshot and it walked me through everything. It made it much simpler for me because crypto is quite complicated. I find myself using ChatGPT for lots of things!
 
When I was literally in the middle of my first crypto purchase I ran into a problem I couldn't figure out and used Gemini to see what I was doing wrong, a very useful tool. You just have to always keep in mind that AI is deeply flawed, still, and learn to doublecheck it's answers.

Pretty much exactly what I did, too. Gemini is what I used, but any LLM will suffice. Step by step, easy peasy!
 
Getting ready to get rolling on mine -- i have Coinbase and exodus -- i am just having a difficult time knowing which to buy because it seems like it is vendor dependent.

I have used it to help me through quite a few crypto questions and problems!

100%. I was asking ChatGPT for help with a dumb thing I did carelessly (buying PYUSD in Coinbase, which can only send through ETH, at least in NY, and I needed PYUSD-SOL). It gave me great advice, but is was for the US, not specific to NY, which like WA has much stricter crypto regulations. Luckily I already knew some ropes and corrected it. It was very polite taking the feedback 😊

I would suggest waiting to see what the vendor you're choosing takes. While USDC is generally a safe bet, I once came across a vendor who I was like "I can pay in crypto using this, this, this and this." And they wee like "Yeah no. We want USDT." And I was like "F****CK! Now I have to f*ck with Tron??"😂

EDIT: I keep a list of all my pep purchases and what method I used to pay. So this way, I can look at my spreadsheet and think, OK, if GB/vendors A, B & C all take USDC-SOL, then that's what I'll buy so I can purchase from multiple places without excess trade/conversion fees.

I usually stick with stablecoins since Bitcoin/Eth can have some fluctuations from one minute to another. Buy $100 of Bitcoin and it might be $92 in no time.

USDC-Sol is accepted by most vendors on the forum. SOL is a cheap network so a couple of dollars of SOL is enough for a lot of transactions. I bought $3 when I first started with crypto months ago and have done over a dozen transactions and still have well over $2 left.
 
I'm still in my cryto learning, 2 years in. Taking my time with it. I am currently learning the " cold wallet" choices and how that would work. My plan is to have a cold & web- based wallet and pay myself between them for practice before I begin using for general purchases or peps.

If your buying crypto wait until your ready to spend it. Otherwise leave it in cash so it doesn't fluctuate.
 
Before my first transaction I thought it was going to be quite complicated but frankly it was very easy. Saw some instructions on here a while ago and here's what I did in case it's helpful to someone else.

Got an Exodus wallet by downloading the app and creating an account. (note there's a recovery ID that you need to save carefully)

Used my Robinhood account. Purchased USDC on the ETH network

That transaction clears immediately.

In the Exodus Wallet, I clicked on Receive to get my USDC address.

On Robinhood, I clicked Send and entered my USDC address. Funds transfer was also immediate

Now everything else takes place in Exodus. Clicked on Send and got the vendor's USDC address and entered into. Clicked submit and they got the funds also immediately.

Note the first time I did this, I did a small test amount both in terms of sending it to myself on Exodus and then also to send to the vendor.

Yeah, within minutes if you link the app to your bank card so you don't have to wait a week for the funds to become available.

There is a tab on the bottom left you push to see your balance, scroll down to crypto, buy.

Go back to the main page.

The top right, left most tab is where they QR code scanner is.

These AI assistants are terrific for a lot of things....but they are often wrong. It's funny when you challenge them on something when you know they are wrong. They will push back a couple of times before conceding that they were wrong....which is a little scary.

Really? I use Gemini and when I've pointed out errors I always immediately get an apology and you're right, I was wrong. Sometimes an explanation of how/why it came to wrong conclusion, but not always.

I've actually gotten a bad answer, researched it and went back into the discussion later to tell Gemini you were wrong, this is the correct answer so it doesn't tell the next person the wrong answer. Basically we're all training AI every day. I keep waiting on my paycheck for that, but I guess it's hung up in the mail.
