Yesterday I went to a medical geneticist after 4 months of wait, and I told them my onerous history with my obesity, Hashimoto and low T. I came clean that I am using a grey market retatrutide...they didnt know what it was, so I explained them as concisely as possible.

I was afraid that they'd snub me like many doctors did in the past, but fortunately they took my concerns seriously. They are ordering genetic tests that will focus on single gene test for obesity and hypogonadism. The results will be back in 2 months. I hope I get some answers.

Scary that doctors aren’t in the know about things as wide spread as Reta. This is where I lose faith in many doctors.

Let us know how it goes. I hope you get the answers you’re looking for.

I got a health report from 23andMe earlier this year, which basically said that I have an increased likelihood of emotional eating, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, and high triglycerides, among other cheerful things that all point towards obesity. It did explain why I’ve had to fight with myself every single day of my life just to stay fit. Overall, it was surprisingly accurate.

However, it also said I’m likely to have a unibrow. But I really don’t, yet.

What answer are you looking to get from this test, that traditional biomakers couldn't answer? Do you know what genetic biomarker/condition you're looking for? Do you have an actionable plan for if you find that biomarker? Do you have an actionable plan for if your search yields no result ?

These are important questions as most conditions can be explained without looking at genetics, and most of the genetic data you get back is not that actionable to begin with.

Even things that are actionable… “oh, you have one of the rare genetic conditions that setmelanotide will work well for!” Except you’re still better off just running a GLP-1.

That's a bit much to ask, especially from a specialist dealing with genetics, as long as reta isn't even officially available. And no, I don't think reta is widely spread outside of a certain bubble.

My doctor is a 27 something year old that just graduated. When i told her about Reta she knew it was a peptide. She also know i shouldn't be able to obtain it in Belgium 🤣 Then again she was chill about it and just told me some things to watch out for (like galbladder). I'm thinking about getting my T tested so i hope she's as chill with TRT as with Reta 😉
