Hello from the UK. I’m Dan, 40s and new to GLP-1s. Started taking Reta around ten days ago and I’m so glad I found these forums.

I’ve been overweight for years now but put a lot more weight on after an injury a couple of years ago. Since then, my clothes have steadily been getting tighter and more uncomfortable. Ended up on blood pressure meds and doing little about it for a while. Tried going to the gym last year for the first time in many years but it didn’t last long and I really felt my age.

I’ve never been a massive eater but I had a lot of liquid calories coming from sweet frizzy drinks and I’d add sweets and crap some evenings and weekends. I’ve been on ADHD meds for a few years and noticed that whilst I don’t get hungry and have to remind myself to eat during the week, I would have a massive appetite at the weekends because I skip the tablets. I’d wake feeling hungry and could eat rubbish all weekend. Never had that pre meds and it took a while to even spot that it was happening when not taking them.

My partner was on MJ for a while but the price got ridiculous. We heard about Reta quite recently and while I started research, she bought some from a reseller and paid way too much, although it’s still way cheaper than MJ through a pharmacy and is plenty for both of us for a month or two. Tried giving up fizzy drinks a few times over the years and have done for months but it’s always crept back in. I can’t stand sweeteners so it’s only ever Coke. Happy to drop it cold turkey but I’d end up replacing the sugar with sweets or chocolate. I was nervous about the source but more nervous about my BP skyrocketing but it’s been a good start and I’m looking forward to the journey. It’s worked amazingly so far and the main part for me is not picking at things in the evenings or grazing on rubbish at the weekend. No cravings and no real hunger.

Really grateful for the community and feel I’ve learned a lot just from lurking.

Welcome. Reta and discipline will take you a good way. Don't give up the gym. Dial your workout back some ,take small steps . I'm 60 hit the gym every day. You got this.

Good on you for trying mate! You don’t get anywhere without trying and if we never failed at some point we would never learn. Progression is slow at first but once you find that rhythm, i doubt anything will stop you.

This forum is a treasure trove of knowledge, dive in and get lost in the shared experience.

Thanks! Agreed, it’s hard to get started again but I love seeing the results. Just takes a little longer to see as you get older but I can’t wait to get back.

Cheers mate. Definitely, this is so useful, especially when there’s so much crap out there.
