Hello all. Excuse the long story. I have a tendency to just get carried away once I start typing.

I'm a 39y/o male who had finally reached a point where I needed to shed off the excess fat but was struggling way harder than I should have.

Some years ago when I was around 90kg, I went on a keto diet and boy did that make a world of difference. Apart from the constant flowing energy without peaks and dips, I was shedding off fat like no tomorrow, all while still eating and hardly increasing my exercise (I really don't like cardio). But that diet just wasn't sustainable for someone like me who was doing a lot of travelling for work and also tried to enjoy meals with my wife.

So back onto my regular eating I went. I just love carbs and sugars though and with the influx of such delicious desserts and drinks that constantly swarmed the market (mmmm cookies and brown sugar bubble tea), I just couldn't control myself. I also lacked the ability to feel full/satisfied until I had what I would say is a lot of food/dessert. That pint sized Ben and Jerrys that should have 4 serves or more in it? That is like a short 5 minute sitting with me.

Anyway, I managed to gain the weight back and trying to dip into keto again just proved to be less useful than it was before. Like it did work, but I'd have to be on it for much longer and it would feel like my body "learnt" its lesson last time and somehow got even more efficient. Around this time I also had my first son and my eating and activity habits just got even more out of control and trying to maintain keto was near impossible. There was also a lot of news at the time about Ozempic and when I did some web searches on how to obtain it, just seeing the costs involved put the mindset into me that even considering it was just a pipe dream.

Fast forward to a couple of months ago. The kids are a little older now, I am weighing 100kg, and I look at myself in photos and the mirror thinking how will I ever reverse this. With things more structured in life, I was able to jump back into what I knew produced results without me needing to exercise like I'm practicing for a marathon. I basically had to drop to one meal a day (which I felt was all I needed because I was getting a constant flow of energy from my fat reserves) and with that, I managed to lose about 2kg in a month. It did feel like a long stint of keto was in order though which made me question sustainability.

Keto was doing good at making me not feel hungry while still having energy, but there was one nagging issue that would always persist..... the cravings. While I didn't feel like I needed to eat dessert (the sugar cravings were dull but not gone), I could take one look at something sweet and delicious and feel like I wanted to try it. I was constantly in a battle with my mind to find something to distract me from it, which if I did distract myself, I could get over it.

After dinner out with some workmates, the name Retatrutide popped up and I said to myself I will need to look into it later. I did not. Then the following week, my sister also on a weightloss journey also mentioned it, and at that time I started to look into it. Not knowing anything on how to get it in bulk etc, we both resorted to buying our first vials locally just to see what it is all about and if it really would help.

And well, yeah. All I can say is Reta to me is nothing short of magic. In as little as a day after the first 1mg dosage, the part of my mind that was just craving anything tasty that I could see just felt like it switched off. I was already on keto so some of the other effects that come with Reta may have been dulled out but the biggest thing I could notice is that desire for sweets had just gone.

I'm now 6 weeks into my Reta journey and so far I am at 89kg and on a steady but not too fast downward trajectory and have never felt better. And the best part is, I have not had to worry anymore about keeping a keto diet, although I am overall reducing carbs since our meals at home used to be pretty heavy on them (rice etc).

I've got a goal weight of 75kg (or even 70kg depending on how I feel about myself) before I get back in to the gym and work on building some muscle.
