Hey folks!

I am a 23 year old professional musician from Western New York, and I’m looking to gather information before embarking on my GLP journey.

Some background on me:

I was a competitive multi-sport athlete in high school, who was forced to seriously cut back on all physical activity due to a knee injury. Shortly after that, the COVID-19 pandemic started up and I began to develop an issue with binge eating. I’ve tried multiple times to lose some weight through traditional means, but I can’t seem to shed any serious pounds. I was inspired to look into GLP-1s by my mom and step-dad who both saw good results with them, and I was further convinced to give them a shot after seeing the transformations that people my age and build (6’2, 300 lbs, broad frame) went through on r/GLPGrad when combining a year of GLPs with a healthy diet and weight training.

Looking forward to getting to know more about the process, and if any other young folks are in the same boat feel free to reach out to commiserate!

Take care,

Karti

Athlete turned pro musician in new york lowk badass. I feel you on the injury causing you to cut back, been there. Hopefully you can find luck in here and achieve your goals. If you dont mind me asking what do you do in your music, do you play an instrument or something? now you got me curious 🤣

Good luck, it can be done. Starting off a lot older and shorter and much less active, but at about the same weight and with binge eating issues, now at 64kg from 145kg. Lost most of the weight before I knew cheap GLP drugs existed, by a low calorie high protein diet with zero highly rewarding / high glycemic index carb type foods to try to prevent triggering binging which worked but left me more or less always hungry. Currently on tirz 15mg reta 5mg plus cagri 0.5mg with stable weight no binging and not always hungry.

Welcome from another Western New York native! I'm 64, was on a keto diet (like paleo but very low carb) for several years until my metabolism absolutely tanked. Even as an active person with a fairly modest caloric intake, I couldn't lose or maintain my weight without all kinds of weekly and daily fasting. I'm so glad to have started tirz. Started eating a wider variety of food, and I'm no longer carb-phobic. My starved microbiome may be recovering! I'm microdosing tirz 2.5 mg (started below 1 mg) and have experienced slow but steady weight loss and metabolic benefits for 4 months now.

I am an upright bassist primarily! Most of the playing I do is jazz, orchestral, or folk music, but there's some other instruments and genres I spend time with on occasion. I've also got a degree in Music Composition, so sometimes I write when I'm not too busy!

Low calories high protein seems to be the move for healthy weight loss, especially if you're on the more active side. I've tried brute forcing it a few times, but the always hungry thing always wears me down after a long day, and when you're working 65 to 70 hours a week most days end up long days. I'm curious what your level of physical activity has been through this saga, I have been trying to get into the gym more (had a long streak of 3 times a week for 4 months that I lost a month and a half ago), and I am curious how others have handled the activity in weight loss.

It's interesting that you mention a wider variety of food. I've been trying to expand my tastes and I've been worried about glps leading me to have less of a desire to do that.

At the start I was profoundly unfit, in poor health, and just going to the supermarket was exhausting and left me drenched in sweat. Not working, nor really able to.

I did not try any exercise till I got to about 115kg, and even then 5 minutes of walking was really quite painful on my feet especially. But I worked out a simple behavioural strategy , I had to do 5 minutes a day, the idea being make it so easy you have no reason to avoid doing it, but it worked and I built it up to 3 hours a day over 8 months or so. I tend to get exaggerated fatigue responses to exercise sometimes where I can feel ill for a day or 2 afterwards, and this seemed to get around that problem thankfully. Sadly have not succeeded in maintaining it as well as I would like over the past year or so.

Yeah, I was previously on Keto for several years..so a large variety of foods were off my diet. On Tirz, I can now eat some lovely carbs. However, I'm often turned off to certain foods I've alway enjoyed, or some days I'm unmotivated to cook anything at all. I can't eat very much fat and have lost the ability to eat a large volume of high fiber veg--so I need to work to get adequate nutrition. I think I tolerate certain flavors combinations more than others. Thai papaya salad and Greek style dandelion greens (with garlic olive oil, lemon) are favorites.
