Hi
I’m new to this forum but familiar with GLP-1’s. I’m 33, African American and I started my journey in 2022 with a pre diabetic A1C and high blood pressure, 320lbs, and 5’8” and PCOS. In 2022 I was prescribed semaglutide (Ozempic) and it was covered by my employers insurance plan. Lost 40lbs was extremely sick with nausea and vomiting but it was worth it to me haha
A year later in 2023, my insurance stop covering (O) for people who were not diabnosed diabetic. I thought I would be able to maintain my weight loss without it. WRONG. The next year I ballooned to 330.
In 2025, I switched jobs and got new insurance that covered Tirzepatide for weight loss. Since then I’ve lost 71 pounds! I’m currently the lowest weight I’ve EVER been. I feel good. I feel healthy! I’m lighter on my feet! My PCOS symptoms have decreased and my blood pressure is normal!
Fast forward to May 2026, my employers announced budget cuts and stopped covering Tirzepatide! I panicked. I do not want to gain weight and I know without glp-1 there is no way I could control my appetite, binging, or inflammation.
Here we are in July 2026 and I have one dosage left of Tirzepatide. For the last few months I’ve been exploring grey and other peps because I’m tired of my insurance and lack of expendable income determining if I’m healthy or not! I joined this forum for the same obvious reasons but I’m glad I’m here! I’m ready to learn more! I look forward to networking and connecting with like minded people. Nice to meet you! Thanks for reading
