After losing 115 lbs 5 years ago on Keto, I was diagnosed with PMOS and as Pre-diabetic. So frustrating. The last 2 years, I have gained 30 of those pounds back no matter how clean I eat. It’s so frustrating. My doctor recommended taking Ozempic to help but of course my insurance said they wouldn’t cover it until I am fully diabetic. So I am taking this journey without that help. I’ve been on Tirz for 9 weeks and have lost 15 lbs so far. I have been lurking around here and other forums for several weeks, anxiously awaiting when I’m brave enough (and smart enough) to successfully purchase gray.

Hey! Keto is something intrested in while im on Reta. I dont know much about it, and im pretty sure im hard failing in that department.

I know Reta is killing it for me though.

Got any tips on keto I could maybe learn?

Also welcome to the fourm. Im new too but this place seems like a good place to learn.

Congratulations on the epic keto work! I have a fellow coworker that did the same, and I've debated about it, but everything that I love has carbs 🤣 . It sucks about the insurance, that's really dumb. Most of them wised up and realized that prevention is cheaper than treatment afterwards! Welcome to the group and enjoy the journey ahead!

For me, the biggest thing that made me successful was finding ways to eat my favorite foods in a low-carb/no-carb way. Tacos became taco salad with no shell, I make pizza with fathead dough instead of regular crust, cheeseburgers with chaffles instead of buns. I don’t do “keto” breads/tortillas, etc because it still has gluten which causes me inflammation. For sweets, look up recipes for fat bombs to help you get through the cravings. Getting through the first 2 weeks is incredibly hard because of sugar addiction and cravings, but after that it gets a lot easier!

Thank you! I’m a carb-aholic for sure 😂 I’m hoping that adding in reta will help me get back on track with my weight loss but the cost is what’s holding me back right now. I’m obsessively reading threads on here now hoping I figure out the hints and abbreviations. I feel so dumb so far. Lol

Something about a fat bomb doesnt sound appetizing to me. Would that be something like butter in coffee? (That was good but made me rush to the restroom)

The reta im on has completely killed my cravings though.

Another vote for Reta here. I just take it at a maintenance dose to help me stick to my diet, kill my cravings, and the other benefits that it has. Not looking to lose weight.

Good luck on your journey! I was very cautious at first and now, after lots of lurking/reading/researching, am totally comfortable with the grey market. Keep on educating yourself!

The name is definitely off-putting 😂 but it’s actually like little cheesecake balls that you make with full-fat cream cheese and sugar free sweetener. There’s a lot of recipes online for “sweet” fat bombs and “savory” ones. Sometimes I would make them ahead and store them in the freezer as a way to get some healthy fat into my day or when I wanted something dessert-like on stressful days lol

I hope I get to your level of comfort soon! Trying to figure out how to pay or how to use crypto is the next hill I’m scared to climb. 😬

It must be incredibly frustrating to be diagnosed with PMOS and as pre-diabetic after doing keto, with 115 pounds of proof in the pudding. I didn't know that would even be possible. I know you didn't come here to talk about that, so I'll leave it alone, but I'm so curious.

I'm also new here (long time lurker but new to posting here). Also doing my GLP-1 on keto. I've been keto-ish for 15 years, but always had trouble resisting carbs for the long haul. Do you think you'll try to go back to low-carb while on your GLP-1? The quieting of food noise people get from their GLP-1 might help you quiet the carb noise, in case something low-carb-ish is something you might want. Alternatively, I think I've seen people on here whose GLP-1 lets them be healthy on a mixed diet, so maybe this opens up more choice for you!

In all cases, welcome to the speaking members of the forum!

I would recommend not fully sustaining a KETO diet while on a GLP, the lack of carbs as a fuel source will likely not bode well. Smaller portions of well balanced meals with a slight focus on protein intake, and let the magic of the GLP do the work. Low and slow weight loss is better for the liver, to prevent non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Not a Dr or Dietician, just my 2 cents from many hours of rabbit hole reading.

It was insanely frustrating and super confusing… I was already not eating any carbs/sugar but still had slightly high fasting glucose levels anyway. Felt counter productive after 2 years of hard work to get healthy.

I have added fruit and occasionally some rice back into my diet, but I still avoid sugar and wheat. I have to treat sugar like a drug addiction because I know how hard it is for me to handle it “in moderation”. 😝 I’ve had a little success with Tirz so far, but I am curious to see if Reta would be a better fit.

Here’s to our journey’s as new members! 🍻
