This is my first post and I’m happy to meet you all.

My wife and I have been struggling with our weight and are hoping to take this step together.

Looking forward to talking to you all.

Hey I just wanted to add to my original post. I sorta rushed this and no wonder I didn’t get any replies. I don’t know if this will be found but I want to share a little more about me in case it resonates.

I’m here to help my wife and I lose weight. I know. That’s why we’re all here I guess. I’m in the medical field, but not a doctor. Regardless, my wife trusts me to handle stuff like this and I’m trying to keep us (most importantly her) safe and healthy.

After our kids she had trouble losing weight. I think she’s stunning still, but she hates her body now and it breaks my heart. I don’t want her to feel that way anymore. Maybe this can help. I don’t know.

I also want to lose weight myself. It’s crazy that I can be so disciplined in so many things in my life, but I can’t seem to control what I eat. I want my wife to feel attracted to me (though she swears she is), and I also want our young children to see their father as someone fit. Nothing crazy, but I don’t want them to have a fat dad.

I feel like I should be able to push past this and just diet like a normal person, but I’ve been struggling for years now. I guess I’m ready to swallow my pride and get some help.

I’m hoping I can find it here for both of us.

Thank you for reading.

Thanks for sharing! I’m happy to be your first reply.

Wanting to do this alongside your wife and setting an example for your kids are powerful motivations. Also, don’t sell yourself short. Plenty of disciplined, successful people struggle with weight, and there’s no shame in using tools that can help.

you’re right to think about this thoughtfully and putting safety first - it’s part of why i’ve decided to join this community to learn and be as safe as possible. Wishing you and your wife the best on this journey

Welcome! I started my journey a few months ago, and it has been good so far. I haven't weighed myself recently, but I have lost weight with assistance. I'm usually anti external assistance, and thought I'd be able to use exercise and diet, but it simply wasn't working - kids, work, stress, and age made me explore all this. It's a journey, but a good one. Wish both of you luck!
