Hi all!

Long time lurker, first time poster...

I have been obese as long as I can remember. Untreated ADHD through my childhood and social anxiety led to eating my feelings away, and by the time I graduated high school, I was 325 lbs and moribund with cardiovascular issues running in my family - my grandpa having passed away at 51 from a massive heart attack, and my mom having had a stroke (which she fortunately survived) 2 years ago at 53, my time will almost certainly come and I needed to make a change...

My timeline:

2 years after graduation (20 years old), I decided I was so sick and tired of feeling like I was 80 years old because of my weight...however, as hard as I try, I have never been able to enjoy exercising. Nevertheless, I pushed myself for 2 years and managed to get down to 225 lbs at my lowest! No help, just good ol fashioned diet and exercise!

Then I ate a cheeseburger...6 months later, I was 280 lbs again. Darn human biology not evolving fast enough for this modern calorie-centric world! 4 years after that, I was back down to 230. Then I had a beer...275 lbs again in 6 months. The universe is cruel.

Some years later... (let's just say I am in my 30s...)

For the last 2 years, I have gone from compounded, which was too expensive and I hated the ceremony of pretending a faceless "doctor" wasn't just peddling...but, hey, I lost 30 lbs. Lost access. Tried to keep the weight off the old fashioned way. Didn't work. Tried a different approach.., too expensive, but I lost 20 lbs. Then I lost access to that. Gained 10 lbs back over the last month and a half. Ugh.

Suffice it to say, I am sick and tired of the medical-industrial complex, so here I am.

Thanks for reading! (PS: Took me almost an hour to get around the aggressive filter, would help if it pointed out what exactly triggered it...)

Wow! It takes will power to lose weight to begin with, so kudos where it is due.

I am a nurse and I know how awful the system is first hand. I suppose the industry thinks its cheaper to be reactive than proactive.

Good luck on the journey!

You came to the right place. Just read and learn, then maybe the help you need will never be unaccessible or unaffordable again!

Admittedly... I actually did things a bit out of order, as someone with a long-time interest in "bio-optimizing" outside of weight loss (I have an undergrad degree in biochemistry)... the help has already been acquired (and yes I am trying to beat back the regrets I have that it took me this long to take the leap).

But yeah, don't want to run afoul of any rules so that's all I will say on that. The community and how smoothly and easily everything went thanks to all the great resources and folks here is is what spurred me to bite the bullet and introduce myself and stop lurking 🙂

Appreciate the welcome!
