Is everyone using Exodus???

I'm using exodus now that my 25 year old paypal account is gone after the first ever crypto use. I thought it was just tin foil hat people, I was wrong.

I use exodus and Cake wallet, but cake is not for people that aren't crypto experts. I lost $7 in PYUSD because I didn't realize you have to import the token for PYSUD first because cake doesn't natively have it.

Damn thanks for this. I have both Trust & Exodus. Maybe it’s time to get Cake

I am also new to buying with crypro. For my first (only) recent transaction, I opened an Exodus wallet and bought Bitcoin there through MoonPay...the fees were quite high! I've heard that to get best fees, people do PayPal > Exodus > vendor or Robinhood > Exodus > vendor but those aren't working for me right now, maybe based on the state where I've been living. So now I'll do Coinbase> Exodus >vendor...at least it's a lower fee than MoonPay!

Kraken has a smaller fee than Coinbase. And don't do other operations within the wallet either (like swap). Similarly expensive.

I like phantom as well. Haven't touched Gemini, Kraken, Binance, Bittrex in years since the MPGH forum and some prob stopped serving the U.S. Anyone still use/have Ledger Nano?

I am using Exodus for short term usage of stable coins and BTC. So far it is the only hot wallet I have used. I never leave much in that wallet, it is mostly an additional layer between my on-ramp and who I am buying from.

For long term storage I use a Trezor Safe 3 cold wallet.

this is same for me. only using exodus for vendor payments. I wish Exodus allowed multiple addresses for stable coins on mobile 😞. today they only allow that functionality for BTC

I use Exodus for short term holding before purchases. I won’t even back up the wallet, even though it asks me to every time I open it. I think of this as one more spot where I just have to only send through what I am willing to lose. But it is the easiest way I’ve found to get in, do the thing, and get out safely.

I was using Crypto.com to buy from because I was brand new and didn’t know any better (heavy handed with the fees) but I’m glad I did because it helped me get a solid understanding of the different network. I think that gets missed going through Coinbase because the most common ones are free, so it doesn’t make you think about it because you didn’t have to fund anything other than what you’re trying to pay with.

I have always used Exodus, funding it through Moonpay. I haven't bought anything in several weeks. I logged in today to fund my wallet to make a purchase. Got some kind of blocked/banned message regarding Moonpay. It looks like the only other option for funding is Blockchain and they are requiring some kind of consent for IL users and verification things like SSN and Phone #?

I can't imagine what made Moonpay block you.

But I think all crypto businesses operating in the US are required by Know Your Customer laws to carefully verify at signup with that stuff, plus ID scans and creepy facial recognition.

Try also Coinbase (Advanced for supercheap onramping) or the PayPal-onramp method in the guide pinned to the top of the Crypto Corner. And still always move to a self-custodial wallet from which you'll pay vendor

I'll give advice even though I personally use neither of these solutions.

You only need a tiny amount of SOL, since solana chain transfers will cost VERY little, like <$0.01. If you buy $1 it will last you a long time even as it fluctuates +/-50%. I think you can buy SOL for gas fees from either, but normally (and Kraken may let you do USDC/solana chain transfers for free like PayPal does for PYUSD), but I wouldn't count on it!

Just buy the SOL and USDC both on Kraken (your custodial KYC account), and then transfer them to your noncustodial wallet (Phantom in this case), and go from there. You don't often get great deals on purchasing in the wallet, and you have to use yet anther KYC to do it (ApplePay, bank, etc).

I put 10 bucks in sol for the fees . Had to get someone else to send it to me as I couldn't buy it on Exodus. Once they sent it to me I could buy it and sent theirs back weird.

It got yanked THAT quick?? damn man (sorry)

Am I the only one for whom this happens with Coinbase:

The first part I describe here is NOT the problem: I pull funds into Coinbase with an ACH transfer from my bank account, and Coinbase has the option of immediately converting to USDC on receiving those funds. The first time there was a six-day hold on external transfers, but the second time there was no hold at all - happy, happy, happy, or so I thought.

Even purchasing enough of a base coin (Solana or Etherium) to fund gas for future transactions, and then transferring to my self-custodial wallet (Exodus), has not been a problem. But . . .

Whenever I try to do a larger transfer ($70 or more) of USDC (ETH) or USDC (SOL), Coinbase tells me, "Possible scam!". Most of the time, they want me to do this Kabuki dance with my passport and a video where I turn my head and say some words. Once they had me do a chat with their AI agent and had me convince it that I wasn't being scammed. The AI agent even asked me what the money was for, so I made something up, as I didn't think it would have been too happy to find out the good news/bad news that I really wasn't being scammed, but that the funds were for gray-market peptides. And I did not tell the AI agent that I was transferring to my self-custodial wallet. If Coinbase ever does blockchain analytics on my external transfers, they won't know for sure who controls that first hop, and if the trace leads to a black-listed address (a vendor), they might not conclude it's me whose purchasing gray peptides.

So, is Coinbase this difficult for the rest of you?
