Peptide Hobby Waste- Crafting and Re-use Potential?

Hey y’all! Now that I’m pinning a few things, I’m looking to reduce my waste from the hobby* and wanted to ask if anyone is using their (non biohazard) waste products in any useful or creative ways? Any ideas you’d like to share?

I just realized today that I can use the top of a kit to hold my alcohol swabs so they’re not in a sliding-around-pile on my desk! Win!

I am thinking about collecting empty vials and arranging them with hot glue for an ultra-tiny bud vase, but have to accumulate more (& certainly will in time!)

Would love to hear your ideas!

* I don’t think “hobby” is the right word-these substances ARE medicine and people use them to solve serious medical issues, but I can’t think of a better word. Passion? Special interest? Idk
 
I keep thinking of making little vial jewelry. Add some dried flowers, mushrooms or moss (a dried bug or bone for the macabre) in little vignettes and cap with a cork. I have yet to actually save the vials.
 
My cats wait for every jab because the orange plunger cover is apparently an approved cat toy. They bat those around the house endlessly.

Glue a feather on the end and you can call it crafting.

Very much! They're nice and moist (some of the ones from Hallandale Pharmacy have been dry), and BEST thing is that they are at Dollar Tree (a tip I got from here!)

Ya, I saw them the other day and should've grabbed a box but, didn't need any at the moment. Think I'll grab a box next time. Thank you!

I love this idea...and it could also work nicely for a pendant necklace!

Of course! Dollar Tree can also be hit or miss; I try to shop mid-week after they re-stock. (You can also call and ask what day they restock on; it's one of my craft and work organizer staple stores so I'm a little obsessed with DT!)

That is the idea. You can make earrings (granted really large), or even do a charm or key chain.
 
I've been saving empty vials with hopes I'd think of something fun to do with them. Other than recycle, I haven't thought of anything. 🙁

I've almost got a kits worth of empties.
 
I like where this is going. I’ve seen a lot of shitty “modern art” pieces, and I feel like we can all come up with something better. I’m always wondering what to do with all the glass vials. I’d love to make some kind of modern art piece using those, along with syringes and needles. Maybe a glass porcupine of some sort.
