I've tackled the initial peptide hurdle, but im very interested in the beauty end of the peptide world. I think Korean beauty is leading the charge here, but can anyone talk to me about microneedling and other great ways to use peptides to improve aging? I've always had very clean fair skin, but with that, im getting fine lines. I started using Sungboon editor silk peptides and they have added some nice moisture but microneedling is prob something worth looking into. Also Ghkcu, but are people making their own formulations or buying it? What's good? Thanks!

I can contribute very little about what peptides do and do not work, but if you search "lotion" in the title, I dropped my moisturizer recipe in the off topic awhile back.

If you search GHK-Cu (& either the word “cream” or “lotion”…I forget) from user randompersonrandom she has a a good thread that I need to revisit about making it into a lotion rather than the typical serum.

I’ve done microneedling but am not very knowledgeable so I’ll wait for others to chime in.

What sunscreen are you using? That’s always where I start with skincare. My fave is a K-Beauty brand Sunprise (Watery light 50 SPF) which is just heavenly.

I’ve searched the forums for K-Beauty and found a few threads esp re: IndiaMart, but the savings aren’t that much higher for the standard topicals (toner, serum, emollients, lotions) vs Amazon or Sephora type sites. I have seen fillers (!!!) on the forum recommended K-Beauty sites. I am tempted but waaaaay too scared. I am vain and don’t trust myself to inject fillers because the face is very complicated anatomically with little room for error, and again I am vain (& sensible! If someone has the knowledge and guts, go for it, but I have neither.)

yes! I saw Botox on a site and was like, ok, WHAT??? 1) I dont even trust a derm to not mess it up and 2) imagine how chopped we'd be if we started doin' that to ourselves?? Kinda why im curious about anti aging peptides. I like my face, I just want it younger again. For SPF, usually LaRoche Possay or a Neutrogena face. My skin is fair, so I always were sunscreen on face

I love both those brands 😊 And high five for daily sunscreen!

I use Cu in an HA serum. I haven't gotten up the motivation to make rpr's lotion yet. I also use tret from my dermatologist. I have some syn-ake coming and can't wait to try it. Botox in a bottle, it's called. Cu is slow acting (months) and syn-ake is faster (weeks). Gluta is supposed to whiten and brighten the skin. I haven't gotten around to using it yet.

I'm slow to make changes. I won't start more than one new thing at a time and have to see how it goes for a month or several before making decisions about it. Needless to say, I haven't tested many things.

I just ordered tret, when say you use CU in an HA serum, is that something you are buying and blending? I have heard to Syn-ake. Did you order through research here or a regular store? Also slow to make changes to see what works! I do really like the serum I got tho, just think it would be better if it got INTO my skin

Keep us updated on the syn-ake…I’ve never heard of it but that sounds cool! I am a full face smiler, and usually squinch my nose (I also snort when I laugh 😆) so I have some fun horizontal lines there. Nothing to get me dissatisfied enough to pursuer injectables but definitely enough to get me interested in a new topical. Thanks for mentioning!

EDIT: I have gluta on the way and am very excited! I’ve never done IM (I half ass it on the deltoid with 8mm needles so really just fooling myself) but I’ve dry needled myself before so hopefully it won’t be too intimidating. Idk why injecting into a muscle scares me more than manipulating a needle I’m poking into my muscle—brains are weird!

Yaaaaay finally a post I have a lot to contribute too!!

I’m obsessed either way skin and youthfulness (trying to maintain/recapture anyway) so I have a fair bit of personal experience, although less from the peptide side of things and more from products and procedures. This information has been given to me by professionals doing a lot of my treatments.

TREATMENTS

Okay so - skin needling. This can depend on your age. Skin needling works best in your 20’s when you’re just starting to get those lines appearing. It can take a few sessions (usually minimum of 3) to see much difference, and the more pronounced your lines are the less you’ll be able to notice. I had a bunch of sessions done in my mid 20’s, I wasn’t overly blown away by the results and had my HIFI nurse tell me once you reach 30, it’s basically a waste of money.

HIFU - omg how I love my HIFUs! Non invasive frequency pulses that hurt like hell while it’s getting done, but gone pretty much once the session is over. HIFU tightens your skin a lot, helping with skin sagging, lines, dropping etc. and you only need one session every 12-18 months.

Hydro microdermabrasion - much cheaper instant result type of thing. Non painful and you walk out with your skin looking amazing. Doesn’t last terribly long though, if you’re committed you’d be getting these every month or so. I’d do it in conjunction with light therapy depending on your skin type.

Botox - preventative Botox all the way! I only get it maybe 1-2 times a year, I don’t have lines other than smile lines, and at 33 I’m happy with that. So many people think Botox is what you get when you’re older, but it works best as a prevention for the formation of lines.

PRODUCTS

I’m of the same opinion - Korean beauty is where it’s at right now!! I recently overhauled my entire skin care routine and noticed how much better my skin is looking in a short time. Again, products are really going to depend on your skin type, concerns, sensitivity etc, so it’s hard for me to recommend anything without knowing that. For lines though, the GOAT (in other people’s opinion - too full on for my skin) is prescription Tretanoid cream. You’ll need to ask your dr for a script. I’d google this one as I didn’t get to experience the benefits from it (my skin is crazy sensitive, even using this every third day).

What I’m currently using is

  • Anua rice and ceramide cleansing powder. This stuff is amazingggg, evens out your skin tone so well and has a very gentle exfoliate benefit.
  • Hyaluronic acid with SNAP8 (which is a peptide). There’s a few posts on this already. I’ve noticed a reduction in my smile lines since using this.
  • Matrixyl. I use the Lab in Nature brand.
  • Copper peptide serum. A lot of people make their own, I’m still going off my last store bought bottle (Clear Skincare brand, but once it’s done I’ll be making my own)

Last but definitely not least, every second night I use Medicube PDRN pink collagen exosome shot. Feels like it has tiny pieces of glass in it when you apply to your face and neck (weird I know) but my lingering red patches and breakout cleared up quick smart, and it’s helping with the smile lines too.

PEPTIDES

GHKCu - I did a course of GHKCu (as glow/klow blend). Wasn’t overly blown away, didn’t really notice a lot of difference, but because of my age I don’t think collagen depletion is coming from a lack of copper. I also use it topically, so I probably won’t bother with another SubQ cycle.

SNAP8 - mentioned above. You can also get powder rather than freeze dried vials. I’m still having fun experimenting with this one.

Glutathione - I’ve only just started a cycle so haven’t experienced first hand the skin benefits, but apparently it has a skin ‘whitening’ effect and clears up skin pimples/blemishes/makes your skin nicer over all.

Hope some of this was helpful!!!

Shit, do I need to buy more machines?🤣… I already have PMD microdermabrasion, a galvanic facial device, LED light mask, a high radio frequency device, and even a fat cavitation ultrasound machine (which I’ve only used once because the during/session tinnitus is a LOT)…did I mention I’m vain?

Soooooooo I keep telling my sister that she needs to learn the face mapping for tox and inject us 🤣. She also has a professional micro needling machine that she got from overseas and she’s waiting for her friend to teach her how to do it so I can benefit. (She’s an NP)

I have not done micro needling yet but my sister swears by it. At the end of summer, I’ll do a peel and laser treatment, a first for me as far as aging treatments on my face.

I have been looking at Pink Gouta but haven’t researched enough yet, and I am running Klow currently.

K Beauty skincare….I like Illymoon Ceramide moisturizer and Beauty of Joseon products….

However, HYDRATION AND SUNSCREEN are so important! Even if I don’t have a ton to contribute, I need to come back and read everything that @JourneyToPerfection said!

@HouseCat how does that red light face mask do?

I loved my high frequency device. When it died after 18 years, I didn't have the same access to salon-grade equipment so I didn't replace it. My esthetician in California got it for me and it was inexpensive.

I have to get my hands on some Tret! I heard estrogen cream for your face too, but I’d be worried to use that daily as a firming product 🤣

I saw noticeable results with the blue light for acne, which luckily I have not been having issues with since starting tirz, which has been amazing for my skin (reduced inflammation, leads me automatically to better diet choices and reduces the compulsion/addiction to picking my skin.)

I don’t have any long term results for red light or the other colors as I am also either all about OR very lazy with skin care. However, I noticed in the past when my body focused repetitive disorder (like OCD’s stupider cousin who won’t clean the sink but will destroy my face) was really bad, if I did a 10 minute series each of blue, green and red light that my skin would recover more quickly. I like to wear the mask and then talk in an alien voice when my husband comes in.

I also have an alien character I do, Gwaartha, when I wear sheet masks. I will walk in my best alien movement pattern, tilt my head with jerky movements and refer to myself in 3rd person while annoying my husband as he watches TV. I amuse myself greatly!!
