Hey guys, 32 y/o from west coast Canada here. Saw this forum mentioned in a friend's group discord and didn't think much of it at the time, but I'm super thankful I remembered now that it's landed me here. My only experience with glp-1's has been titrating up from 2.5-10 on tirzepatide on rx from my doctor. Initially I had great success, went from 320 down to 295 in about 6 weeks, but almost immediately after plateaued pretty hard. Made it down to 280 over the following five months, but at any dose at 5 or more per week I noticed it significantly diminishing my energy and drive to train/meal prep/engage in activities I normally enjoy.

I've gotten pretty good at meal prepping with whole foods and tracking diet/progress with macrofactor, and I train often (boxing, cycling, badminton). I've always had a problem with appetite control though. Despite eating whole foods and trying hard to stick to the plan, it just doesn't really matter if I'm still skulling 1,000 extra calories each day. ¯\(ツ)

I think the answer is definitely here in these compounds, just might not be the one I started with!

I'm trying to get back down to 220, the weight I was boxing at in my early 20s. Made some poor life choices while with a toxic ex, spent several years seeing how far down the alcoholic spiral I could go, and now several years after that low point I'm trying to fix my life one step at a time I guess.

Sorry for the long intro rant, I'm looking forward to learning from everyone here. From the few hours I've spent reading around the forum so far, seems like a very warm and knowledgeable community here. Thanks for having me!

Welcome! Do you find that the tirzepatide almost completely eliminates the desire to get shitfaced? I find myself quite contently having a single beer these days, which is a surprising side-effect.

It had been a couple years of sobriety before I first took Tirzepatide, so I was well ahead of the curve on any desire to drink, but despite that I think in regards to daily temptations it probably did/does work well. I may have had the odd thought before taking it of like "Oh this event/group potluk/barbecue/show would go great with a drink or two." but while on Tirz, those thoughts didn't really come up. I will say though, that if a trigger is strong/stressful enough, your old neurological wiring still gets through and you still strongly desire those old habits.

I also am able to have only a drink or two now and not feel a strong need to continue and get obliterated, which is wonderful, but since stopping the Tirz I've still maintained this feeling. Tirz definitely works overall, but it's not a 100% fix. I think the best thing it does is enabling you to wire your brain differently so that your habits pull you more often toward responsible decisions than the irresponsible/unhealthy ones, when in similar situations.

Tirz definitely helps me with meal prep and exercise. Tirz makes me want to avoid unhealthy food that makes me sick now, and I desire healthy food more. Also, Tirz reduced my joint pain quite a bit due to not only the weight loss but also the inflammation reduction. It all happens gradually, so stay the course!

I'm glad it works so well for you! Apparently GLP-1 meds not only reduce inflammation, some recent studies show that they literally regenerate cartilage. Crazy stuff!

iirc one study compared hyaluronic acid injections as a control group, to semaglutide, and found around 20% cartilage regeneration in the semaglutide group after 24 weeks, compared to obviously less than 1% change in the HA control group.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to achieve beneficial progress on a lower comparable dose of Reta than I was finding on Tirz, because the anhedonia that came at higher doses of Tirz really put a damper on things for me lol.

I've not experienced any loss of enjoyment while on reta (yet), but have thought about taking kisspeptin IF I notice a lack of interest that I might think is due to the reta.

This is the first time I'm hearing of kisspeptin, how exactly would it address anhedonia? I get the downstream effects on testosterone and libido, but is there something else?
